Private Atom
Tonight I meet the whole world
of stars falling in clusters
the way a raven tucks her wings
to investigate the ground.
It is tempting to say
things will be easy from here
rather than testing the weathered
currents, the eddies,
the mountains that want to
turn me into ore.
Merrily the seasons dissolve
into one another, the social
co-mingling everyone craves,
the festive candle that flickers
and melts into dance.
This is the real purpose
of connecting our pieces
together as a whole. We
cluster like fragments
the way we were made,
drawn together like gun metal magnets
spinning in the urge to collide.
