Aurora
Poetry
unpublished
theology
explains my debt
to northern tides
and autumn.
Leaves
crawl up
into the lap
of the vestal woods
damp with animals.
A wandering
human child
seeks the whole story
without explanation
of words and
wonders
how
tides move
how eagles
fly
how hunters
choose their
prey
the way
dying salmon
glisten to breathe.
Fireweed
and salmonberries
vex and bloom
up the mountain
up the mountain
at the movement
of glaciers
and canticles
and so long colors
of the cosmicfalling rain
