Better Than Alone
Listen
to an avenue of birds
in flight above
still water,
wisps of subtle
breathing,
a dash toward
spring.
Trilliums do nothing
but stare
which is to honor
everything.
Young
birch leaves
swing collectively
enough to move
deep branches
and roots
who circulate through
the whole dirt world.
Worms diminish
friction below
where earth
touches darkness
teaches it
what needs listening.
